What I do...

I enjoy documenting the special moments of everyday life. As a photojournalist, I am ready to photograph a wide range of topics in a wide variety of usually unpredictable and unexpected lighting situations and conditions, all in a compressed amount of time and with lots of improvisation.

My work - which sometimes includes writing - has appeared since 2004  in print throughout southern New Hampshire, the Merrimack Valley and North Shore/Cape Ann in Massachusetts, and occasionally in other publications around the country and regionally including in the Boston Globe, Nashua Telegraph, Lowell Sun, and Union Leader, where I now work part-time,  New Hampshire Business Review, and additionally with New Hampshire Public Radio. From 2011 to the end of 2013, I was photo chief and photo director at the Gloucester Daily Times and its quarterly Cape Ann Magazine, both part of the Eagle-Tribune/North of Boston Media Group family of newspapers, where I worked as a photographer for nearly 10 years. 

I have my own freelance photography business since 2014, where I shoot photos - including events and portraits - for area universities, publications, people, organizations, and businesses. My services include, among other things:

• Photographic consultation
• Portraits - for a variety of purposes in natural work or other environments and studio set-ups. 
• Business, product and industrial photos - people at work, interior and exterior spaces, services and products - in progress and finished, company culture, hands-on work and details of the workplace
• Editorial - news, features, sports, in-depth story-telling, food, culture, fashion, lifestyle, science, wildlife
• Family, engagement, children's portraits -  in natural, usually outdoor, but could be indoor, locations 
• Special events - conferences/corporate events, parties and celebrations, galas, competitions, festivals, awards ceremonies, bar/bat mitzvahs, weddings
• Special commissions
• Community and public relations/media relations work for arts organizations and can consult on strategies to promote art and artists
