Content Submission Guidelines

How to Submit Content

All features and sponsored posts will be submitted through designated submission forms.  New forms for each issue can be found in the Ads & Content section on the Flackery page.

You must use the supplied forms to have your ad or content considered for submission. Absolutely no content will be accepted via email or social media.

Submissions are generally reviewed within two business days of receipt.  If you submit an ad or article and do not hear back from me within 72 hours please send me an email

NOTE: While I routinely post to social media, I typically schedule posts in advance and do not necessarily log into social media more than once a day.  If you want a timely response, please use the contact form or send an email.  DO NOT SEND A MESSAGE ON FACEBOOK, TWITTER, OR LINKEDIN.

Terms of Acceptance

All work is accepted on "spec," which means that I reserve the right to review your piece before it is accepted for publication. Buzz Media including Queen City Buzz, NH Business Guild, and Flackery also retain editorial rights and may request changes to your ad, article, or artwork before publishing content.

Payment

An invoice for payment will be issued upon approval of submitted ads or content. Payment is due upon receipt.

Buzz Media currently uses Square and Stripe for secure payment processing. If you do not have a credit card you will need to contact me in advance about check authorization.  Please submit your request via the contact form on the Ads & Content page.  Once you are approved you will receive an upload link to submit your ad or content.

If you are a current member of the NH Business Guild you do not have to pay to place ads or content in Flackery.  You will be emailed links for upload forms to submit ads or content for each issue.  Old forms are deactivated after each issue so be sure to use the latest forms. (They have current deadlines posted prominently near the top of the form.)  Send me an email if you did not receive the latest links and I will resend them.

Refunds

Cancellation requests must be given in writing. Refunds will only be given within 24-hours of content or ad submission. Editing, layout, and design take a substantial amount of time and effort.  Removing even one ad or article requires reworking the entire publication.  If you are not happy with the ad or content you submitted, I will make every effort to work with you to edit your content up to seven (7) days prior to the stated submission deadline.  If you are on a multi-issue ad plan you will be able to change your ad in the next issue.

Copyright

All work must be original content by the author/artist. The author/artist retains ownership of their content, but submission to Buzz Media, Queen City Buzz, NH Business Guild or Flackery grants us the right to publish and distribute the work on QueenCity Buzz, NH Business Guild, Flackery, and our associated social media accounts.

I understand many people have similar ideas and experiences but I will not tolerate plagiarism.

  • Word-for-word copy and submission of someone else's work
  • Stealing original ideas or content and presenting them as your own
  • I am totally serious about this -- even stock art must have an attribution!

Please contact me if you have any questions or are unclear about what constitutes plagiarism.  I can be reached via email or the contact form.

Plagiarism will not be tolerated!

Topics

Articles and graphics should support the idea of starting and growing a business as an entrepreneur, small business owner or freelancer in southern New Hampshire with an emphasis on the Manchester metro area.  Typical articles would share information about overcoming business challenges found here in New Hampshire, general business management, sales and marketing, technology and any topic that would be of interest to a local freelancer or small business owner. Whenever possible general business topics should include a local slant.

Content

All articles and graphics content should feature useful, professional content from an original point of view. All content should be informational, contain citations where applicable and be easy to read for a fast-paced web audience.

Written

A typical Flackery article is approximately 600 - 800 words, but we will consider shorter or longer pieces.  (800 words are roughly 4 pages with graphics -- this is about the maximum a reader will tolerate in digital format.)

While you are welcome to submit content you have already posted on your own business blog, the article should adhere to a neutral journalism style rather than unsupported, first-person opinion.

With rare exceptions, contributor articles should contain at least two quotes or citations with footnotes and/or links to where the supporting data can be found.  I will not accept any content that contains statistical data without a citation or source.

Please provide graphics when available.  I can supply some stock art, but it is always better to use original graphics.

Be sure to include the attribution If you did not take the photo or design the image.  (Who created the graphic image and where you found it.)

NOTE: I will research images and may request proof that you own the right to use it.

Graphic submission format should be jpg or png with a resolution of 300dpi.  I will also accept scalable vector (svg) files. All colored graphics must be converted to CMYK format.

Video

Video content must be hosted on YouTube or Vimeo to be included in a publication. If you would like to embed video into your article or ad please include the URL where it is located on the web.

Artwork

Infographics, cartoons and similar graphics make digital magazines interesting and we welcome your original artwork submission.

Please include the attribution If you did not take the photo, design the image, or if the graphic uses stock art.  (Who created the graphic image and where you found it.)

Submission format for artwork should be jpg or png with a resolution of 300dpi. I will also accept scalable vector (svg) files.  All colored graphics must be in CMYK format. NOTE: Please use the upload form to send graphics. Some email clients will compress large images down to 72dpi. See the Ads & Content section on the Flackery page for the latest forms.

Sponsored Posts

Sponsored posts will adhere to the stated guidelines for written content and artwork and may be subject to a "Sponsored Content" label along with any relevant links in the footer of the article.  The publisher will have final determination whether the content is an article, advertisement, or sponsored content.

Publishing Policies

The publisher retains the right to reject or cancel any ad or content that is not in keeping with publication's standards. Advertisers and contributors will assume liability for all contents including text, representation, and illustrations of advertising or submitted content and also assume responsibility for any claims arising therefrom against the publisher. The publisher also reserves the right to place the word "Advertisement" or "Sponsored Content" on ads or article content, which in the publisher's opinion,  appears to be an advertisement or editorial content.

Flackery digital magazine is meant to be an informational marketing vehicle for participating members and contributors. The quality of the content is a reflection on Buzz Media, NH Business Guild, guild members and contributors.

If you have any questions about topics, style, or content I can be reached via email or the contact form.
